Worksheets, Not Lectures
Fourteen structured worksheets built for players old enough to do the work themselves — real numbers, real dates, real questions, and the space to write your own answers down.
The Rules As They Are Now
Age-based eligibility, the transfer portal, NIL reporting thresholds, 26-man rosters, entry-level contracts. Written from the current rulebooks — not from how it worked five years ago.
A Mentor in Their Corner
Every player is paired with a current OHP Head Coach for a monthly one-on-one check-in — accountability, encouragement, and honest answers.
These are the years the path gets decided.
At 17 and up, the hockey is only part of it. Somebody is deciding whether to recruit your player, and your player is deciding what to say yes to — a junior team, a college offer, an aid agreement, eventually a contract. Most of those decisions get made once, quickly, on incomplete information, and several of them cannot be undone. This is The Path Forward stage of the OHP pathway: seven units, released one per month from September through March — recruiting while you are already in motion, the junior-or-college decision, the Eligibility Center and staying eligible, living away from home, training and fueling like a pro, performing under pressure, and the one nobody prepares anyone for: money, signing, and the career after hockey. Every player is also paired with a mentor — a current OHP Head Coach — who meets with them each month to work through the pages and their recent stretch of play. It isn't another camp or clinic; it's the education and support layer that wraps around your player's team and coaching.
Built by coaches who've lived it
Ohio Hockey Project is Cleveland's original skill development organization, founded in 2008. The OHP staff carries more than 85 combined years of professional, collegiate, and junior playing experience, with alumni who've gone on to the NHL, AHL, and NCAA. This curriculum is that staff's answer to a pattern they kept seeing: talented players separated in the end not by skill, but by the habits, mindset, and navigation nobody had structurally taught them. The Path Forward is the last stage of that pathway — and the stage where the cost of not knowing is highest.
Russ Sinkewich — The Path Forward Mentor
The founder of Ohio Hockey Project, and the person who has already walked every step this stage maps. Russ played AAA hockey with the Cleveland Americans, went on to NCAA Division I at Bowling Green State University, and then spent seven professional seasons between the ECHL and the AHL, including time with the AHL's Cleveland Monsters. He has made the junior decision, the college decision, the sign-or-return decision, and the decision about what comes after hockey — and he built this stage around the questions he wishes someone had put in front of him.
